Father Techie-Christmas Comes Early To Three Businesswomen

United Kingdom

Father Techie-Christmas will be visiting three businesswomen early this year as he lands his sleigh laden with tech kit in their home office. Caroline Scotter Mainprize, from Oxford, Fiona Cohn, of Birmingham, and Anna Seager, down south in East Preston, Sussex will all be receiving prizes from iHubbub’s tech make over worth more than £1,700.

First prize winner Caroline Scotter Mainprize, who works at home running her PR business CSM Communications, has several academic and tech clients, but admits to being ‘totally behind’ in the tech world. Recently becoming equipped with a smartphone transformed Caroline’s life and when she saw all the techie goodies on offer in iHubbub’s tech make over competition she raced to enter.

Caroline’s office only has a desktop tower after her laptop was stolen. She feels she is at the basic level of tech kit, yet she is often talking with high-end techie guys about how she can promote their businesses. This prize, worth more than £750, will kick-start Caroline into a higher level of technical ability.

Caroline is determined to maximise on her big techie win and she said: ‘This fantastic prize will help me to concentrate on growing my business rather than being held back.’

Second prize winner of prizes worth more than £550, Fiona Cohn, runs management consultancy business Excelarate, and although she feels un-techie, in reality she is probably more techie-able that she believes. This is because she says she has no patience for learning new technical skills, yet once she is shown how to do it, she normally manages fine.

Fiona said: ‘I’m absolutely delighted! As a relatively new business winning this prize comes as an investment to my business that I otherwise would struggle to make.  It will make a huge difference to me to have new, fit for purpose technology to improve the way I work and help me give my clients an even better experience.  It’s very exciting to win something – but winning something that can make a real difference is even more valuable.’

Third prize winner of prizes worth more than £480, Anna Seager, has a home based Sussex business called Little Crab Designs. She loves being up-front-and-technical when she puts her mind to it. She has learnt many tech-savvy skills such as building her own website, learning Photoshop and any other tech challenges that affront her in her nursery and playroom designing business.

Designs from Little Crab are handmade using a sewing machine and then customers can order digital designs and prints or personalised designs in frames.

Anna is very excited to be a finalist and said: ‘It’s as if this competition was made for me. Hardware is expensive so these prizes will absolutely help my business. All of the wonderful prizes on offer will be used daily in my home office.’
