Winter Warming Mulled Wine

When starting up your own home business, taking clients or staff to a Christmas dinner party may be the last thing on your mind. Not because they don't deserve it and you don't want to spoil them - mmm ... mostly because things can be pretty tight when you're in the start up stage.

So if you're using some initiative and planning your own home business dinner party, be sure to give your freelancing clients some mulled wine when you entertain them.

This mulled wine recipe uses Bellevue Christmas Fruit Tea and the berries and spices in the mix give the mulled wine extra depth and flavour ... a real 'ahhh' winter warmer.

There is some truth to the health benefits, as drinking wine in moderation has been linked to reducing the risk of suffering from heart disease, diabetes and dementia. Lemon and orange both contain vitamin C which acts as an antioxidant.

Mulled simply means heated and spiced. So you can have mulled wine, mulled cider, mulled mead ... mulled just about anything.

Pop out and get these ingredients to make your own Mulled Wine

  • 1 Tablespoon Christmas Fruit Tea
  • ½ Pint red wine
  • ¼ Pint water
  • 1 Teaspoon sugar (more or less may be added depending on how sweet you like your mulled wine)
  • ½ Orange, thickly sliced

Put all the ingredients into a saucepan and heat up slowly. Leave to infuse over a gentle heat for 15 -20 minutes.

Try adding different fruits (lemon and lemon for a twist) and whole spices, such as cinnamon stick and whole cloves.

Pour through a strainer to serve and enjoy!
