About Jody

Thank you for visiting my page on ihubbub! About me: My childhood was modest, but I was allowed to think, question, and speak without much limitation. My mother is a fantastic storyteller with a huge personality and gracious attitude toward others. My father was an intellectual mountain man with keen insight and dry wit. As an only child, I absorbed all that freedom and attention and grew up to be a straight-spoken, tolerant woman with a wild sense of humor.

I grew up in East Tennessee. I earned a Bachelor of Science in Finance at The University of Tennessee and a Post-Baccalaureatte teaching certificate through Lincoln Memorial University. I teach technology to high school freshmen and live with my husband Jeff and our two children in Knoxville, Tennessee.

I authored a narrative non-fiction book titled THE EYE OF ADOPTION: the true story of my turbulent wait for a baby. The book description reads "Author Jody Cantrell Dyer’s candor, wit, humor, and soul color each page of The Eye of Adoption. She directly addresses the sorrows of infertility and the demands of adoption while consistently word-weaving a life rope of assurance and optimism for her readers. A middle-aged wife, mother, and teacher, Dyer “tells it like it is” in hopes that waiting adoptive parents, birthparents, adoptees, and those close to them will find kinship through her story."

If you just like to laugh, you may enjoy my humorist-style blog, Theories: Size 12, Musings from a Mountain Mama.

I love to hear from readers. I advocate for adoption and laughter! Thanks again for visiting.
