Before You Start Selling In Our Free Online Shop

You need to set up your PayPal email address so we know how and where to pay you for your first sale. Do this FIRST.

Find out to add PayPal email here.

Then, while you're there set up your shipping settings to create a default shipping address. If you will only be selling a freelance service that does not need shipping, it won't be necessary to add your shipping details. However, if you intend to sell any product that will need shipping in future, best to do it now and then it's done and dusted.

Find out to set your shipping details here.

You should also be sure you have an up to date image or logo on your profile and a great summary explaining more about you. You should also set up your location in your profile.

Why? Because your image, your location and your profile summary is displayed in your own personal store front for buyers to see more about you and thus gain confidence in buying from you.

Take a look at this example ...

profile for your own seller shop front

You can also see that the buyer can get in touch with you by private message or email and they can view your complete profile. All in one quick glance!

Find out how to add an image, set up your location and add a profile summary in our Complete Profile Guidelines.

Add A PayPal Email

Before creating a product as a seller, please provide your PayPal email address to ensure you will be paid.

If you don't do this prior to adding an item, you will be asked to do this before you add your product or service, otherwise we don't have details to pay you. This is vitally IMPORTANT. Go on, do it now.

You need to pop over to your 'My Account'. If you are currently logged in you will see this on the 'Me' link on the main navigtaion. Otherwise you will need to log in. From there click 'My Account' and you can see the Payment Options block with a field for your PayPal email.

Enter your PayPal email in this 'PayPal email' field but make sure it is the email that you use to login to your PayPal account, otherwise you will not be paid automatically when your sale goes through.

Selling A Product

iHubbub lets you sell any product or service that your home business produces. Here's the guidelines for adding a product.

1. Add Your Product's Title

This is the most important part of your sales item. Describe your product in a short, snappy title in less than 50 characters (not words!) - each space is counted as a character. If you want your products to be on our bestseller list, it is vitally important that you use keywords in your product.

Small Business Coach and Business Psychologist, Georgina Walsh, who is on a quest to give people more clarity and enjoyment in their working worldProduct Titles

For example: if you selling soaps you make at home or buy in from somewhere, use something like: Handmade Body Soap or Luxury Handmade Gift Soap Set.

How about if you're selling handmade jewellery? You could use something like this: Handmade Pearl Jewellery or Handmade Amber Jewellery etc. Use the key phrases to describe your jewellery.

You may be selling things like office supplies or tech kit so in this instance use a few words to describe your product, such as: High Quality Sound Headset or Lightweight Portable Laptop.

I think you get the picture now ...

2. Product Summary

After a summary about the item you are selling, this is the second most important part of your sales item. Describe your product in a sentence or two using keywords that best describe what you are selling.

We use this information to optimise your sales item to be found on Google so please take time to ensure you get this part the best it can be!

You will see this: 'Content is limited to 300 characters, remaining: 300' = as you start typing you will see the number reducing as it counts down so you know how many characters are remaining.

TOP TIP: type out your summary in a word document so you can count your characters to ensure you get all your primary keywords into your summary to briefly describe your item.

Small Business Coach and Business Psychologist, Georgina Walsh, who is on a quest to give people more clarity and enjoyment in their working worldProduct Summary

Try something like this if you're selling recon laptops.

Lightweight laptop with all the latest software already added and Window 7. All reconditioned to highest quality specs for you to start working straight away.

Add in a few more details about what they get and then keep the guts of it for your description - see below.

IMPORTANT: the use of good, strong keywords in both examples. This is what you should be doing, no matter what you are selling.

IMPORTANT: when you look at your own items you will NOT see the 'Add to cart' button. You will only see this on other items because, clearly, you cannot buy your own items. Embarassed

3. Product Category

Hit the drop down to choose a Product Category. This is a required field so that your product will appear on a category page with other similar products. That part is 'simples'!

4. Product Image

Then upload an image of your product. Choose the image and simply 'upload' to get it onto the site.

When the image has uploaded two fields will appear. It is very important - for optimising your image and thus boosting your sales - that you describe your product in only a few words, but using strong keywords that explain what your product is all about.

uploading image to ihubbubs free online shop

Please note, we will be adding the option to add more images shortly so you can show off your product item from all angles.

5. Product Description

Here is where you can describe your product in greater detail, doing the same as your summary - add lots of good keywords so the potential buyer gets a very good idea of what you are selling. By using good keywords, when a buyer searches our iStore, they are more likely to find your products.

6. Product Information

This is the place to add all those nitty-gritty details that matter to a buyer.

Sell price: Clearly you need a sale price. iHubbub does not charge you for listing your item, nor does it charge a monthly subscription like some other online stores (check our online shop comparison chart), we only take a small commission when you sell the item. Check the comparison chart to find out more.

Weight: If you feel your item doesn't need a weight shown here because it is standard, it is not required. You decide if the buyer needs to know this.

Unit of measurement: Units of measurement includes the length, width and height so your buyer will see if your item is the best one for their needs.

Dimensions: such as the physical dimensions of the packaged product.

Package quantity: You can explain how many of these items can fit in your largest box. Orders that exceed this value will be split into multiple packages when retrieving shipping quotes. Do be aware of ensuring your shipping quote covers the full amount of the item!

6. Shipping Settings

We recommend that you set up your default sellers address before you add your first product. By doing this upfront you won't have to complete your sellers address each time you add  product. You can set up a different address than the [default] for your product.

PLEASE NOTE: Your seller's address does not show anywhere on site, it is kept completely  private. It is really important so our system can calculate the shipping rates correctly based on your 'local' country. All calculations and comparisons are based on your country - you as the seller and the which country the buyer is based.

You don't need to do this if you are selling your time by the hour, day or month. So if you are adding service items your seller's address is not needed.

At any time you can change the address(override your default address) for specific products that you may want to ship from a different country on the product creation page.

If you are now logged in, you can find your shipping settings on the navigation under 'My iStore > Settings. Here you can set your default shipping address and when you save you will still be on this guidelines page.

set your shipping details in our free online shop

6. Shipping Rates

Add your product shipping rates based on the criteria in the fields shown. For exammple, you are given the option to quote for shipping from your 'local' country, to Europe and Non EU and the rest of the world.

Your local shipping quotes can be standard and express. It is up to you to decide if you want to offer all of these rates. If you're UK based, you may want to give the buyer the option of choosing standard postage which would probably be a second class service taking a little longer to arrive, or a first class or 'express' service taking much quicker to be delivered.

Please be careful with your quotes! If you accidentally add a zero (0) that means you are offering the buyer FREE shipping and you WILL have to absorb the cost. Be very mindful of this as it effects your sale!

If you do not want to ship to certain regions, leave it blank or empty. This will mean that you do not want to ship to that country.

7. Featured Seller

You don't need to fill anything in for this when adding your product, but if you'd like to be a featured online product seller, hop over here and find out how to become a VIP seller with your own free featured shop!

Share Your Items

We have given you a few ways to share your items. At the top of the page you will see some share icons. Simply click any or better still - all of them and share your newly posted item to your social networks.share your online sales items

You will notice that when you hover over the icon, the colour will change.

When you click it opens up a pop up. If you are logged in, you can post straight to your social sites. Otherwise it will ask you to log in and verify that you want to share.

Also remember that any of our visitors will be able to share your items as well if they like them and want to share them with their networks.

So please do share the love. Other sellers may share yours so please do share theirs!

Buyers Contacting You

You will notice that there is a contact block at the bottom of each of your items and on your sellers page.

This is for buyers to send you a private message about your items. Please note that they are able to see your profile here too.

buyers contacting you the seller

If you have a full and complete profile you will give the buyer much more trust and confidence to buy from you.

Also notice this ... can you spot the odd one out below?

adding your profile image to your seller items

Here you see that the first two sellers on this page have completed their profile with an updated image. The 3rd seller has not done this, so when a potential buyer is looking at the items for sale, the cannot "see" the seller.

Also remember that the image of you links back to your profile so BE SURE it is up to date and you're flashing a great looking completed profile for anyone who may want to BUY from you!

Selling Your Freelance Business Services

iHubbub gives all freelancers the chance to sell their business services by the hour or daily rate or by a fixed project price.

1. Add Your Service Title

This is the most important part of your sales item. Describe your freelance business service in a short, snappy title in 300 characters or less (not words). Each letter and space is counted as one character.

If you want your service to be on our bestseller list, it is vitally important that you use keywords to describe the service you are selling.

NOTE the use of good, strong keywords. This is what you should be doing, no matter what freelance service you are selling.

3. Service Categories

Hit the drop down to choose a Category. This is a required field so that your service will appear on a category page with other similar products. That part is puddy-sticks!

Service Price Type: Then decide if your freelance business service for sale will be a fixed price or an hourly rate.

For example: You may be a social media content writer and you are offering to do regular posts for busy start-up entrepreneurs. You can do either an hourly rate for your services or you can give a fixed price and explain what the buyer gets for this fixed price in the description below. Or you could do both in two seperate freelance business service items for sale.

If you are doing this kind of thing you MUST tell the potential buyer what the fixed project period will be, what they will get for their money during that time and as much detail as possible to help the buyer select your freelance service.

Best if you put yourself in the 'buyer's' shoes and then look at your advert with their eyes and ask yourself questions about what you're offering: do you understand it from their point of view, are you explaining exactly what you get for the money, will they understand quickly what your offer is about?

All this is vitally important to make your offer get good sales!

4. Service Image

Then upload an image of the freelance or business service you are selling. Choose the image and simply 'upload' to get it onto the site.

When the image has uploaded two fields will appear. It is very important - for optimising your image and thus boosting your sales - that you describe your product in only a few words, but using strong keywords that explain what your product is all about.

The Alternate Text will be used for disability screen readers to help disadvantaged readers to know what your image is about. It is also used by search engines to understand what the image is and if the image cannot be loaded.

uploading image about your freelance service for sale to ihubbubs free online shop

Please note, we will be adding the option to add more images shortly so you can show off your freelance or business service with further images.

5. Service Description

Here is where you can describe your freelancing service in greater detail, doing the same as your summary - add lots of good keywords so the potential buyer gets a very good idea of what you are selling.

By using good keywords, when a buyer searches our iStore, they are more likely to find your business services.

6. Service Pricing Information

At last you can now set the price you will be charging. Remember up above you stated if this item was based on a fixed project rate or sold by the hour. So add the price in and hit save!

Whether you are selling an hourly rate or fixed project you MUST tell the potential buyer what the fixed project period will be, what they will get for their money during that time and as much detail as possible to help the buyer select your freelance service.

The same goes for an hourly rate, you HAVE to inform the buyer what they get for their money during that hour that you'll be working for them.

Here we suggest that you regularly check your sales because this is a good indication of how your sales are going and more importantly, how your item is being viewed by potential buyers.

If you have lots of views and only a few sales, it could be that your item summary and description doesn't really explain what you do. Take a good hard look at your item again and see if you can improve on the text and image to get better sales.
